The Narrative Shift: Strategies for Reframing Community Engagement in Your Organisation

In this webinar we tackle one of the most important but under-discussed challenges for community engagement practitioners: influence.

You know what best practice looks like. You understand the principles of transparency, inclusion, and meaningful participation. But what happens when others don’t? When engagement is treated as a box-ticking exercise? When decisions are made before the community is heard? When colleagues in other departments see engagement as a hurdle—not a help?

This session is for the change-makers behind the scenes—the engagement professionals who are constantly navigating organisational politics, tight timelines, siloed teams, and sceptical leaders.

Join Max Hardy, Founder and Director at Max Hardy Consulting; Engagement Mentor, Trainer, and Practitioner, alongside Leanne Robb, Community Engagement Specialist and IAP2 Trainer from Social Pinpoint, for an insightful one-hour session that explores how to build real influence within your organisation—so that engagement is not just heard, but truly valued in decision-making.

Together, we’ll explore:

  • How to build trust and credibility with decision-makers and executives
  • Practical strategies for influencing across disciplines—from planners and engineers to communications and policy
  • Ways to call out tokenism tactfully, and bring others on the journey toward meaningful engagement
  • And how to position yourself not just as a facilitator—but as a strategic advisor
Because the truth is: changing culture doesn’t always require authority. It requires influence, relationships, and persistence.
Let’s dive into how you can lead that change—from wherever you sit in the organisation.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to elevate your community engagement efforts!
