Tucson Electric Power plans to build a new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line and substation to strengthen electric reliability for customers and to meet growing energy needs in the area of South Kino Parkway and East 36th Street. A study is underway to determine the route for an approximately four-mile transmission line that will connect the Irvington Substation near South Alvernon Way and East Irvington Road to the planned Kino Substation near South Kino Parkway and East 36th Street. The orange lines on the map represent transmission line route options that will be evaluated individually.
With the help of the Gordley Group, TEP is seeking public input about the siting of the transmission line and substation and other aspects of the project. Community members can get involved by attending public meetings or various online methods including their Social Pinpoint interactive map.
