The Department of Transport and Main Roads is responsible for planning and delivering the transport operations for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. They are in partnership with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation and the City of Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be held on the Gold Coast between Wednesday 4th and Sunday 15th April 2018. The Games are predicted to bring around 1.2 million ticketed spectators which shows a need for efficient transport facilities to and from The Games.
During the event, there will not be any available parking for spectators at the competition venues. Spectators will be encouraged to take public transport to and from the Games. To assist with this change, transport facilities will include:
- Shuttle bus services from heavy rail stations and park ‘n’ ride sites
- Local bus
- Heavy rail
- Gold Coast Light Rail
